Unfortunately, you're exactly right. This one thing here is actually a perfect example of systemic racism at work. And white privilege, which, by default is designed such that those of us in the racial majority don't even notice or realize it, let alone, *think* about it. This exact thing is also a perfect example of a phrase for which many white folks would argue, "not everything's about race!" Of course they think that - especially when they don't fundamentally understand what systemic or structural racism is to begin with. And for the record, it's not just you. I've noticed the same trend with the photos I choose to feature in my stories. The stories featuring photos of black women not only don't get curated; they also don't get read.
