So true! My name is “Martie” (a nickname from my birth name, Martha). It’s a name typically assumed to be male, as in “Marty.” The only difference is in spelling. Before getting married and taking my husband’s last name, my last name was “Todd” — also a typical boys name. So I was girl growing up with two masculine sounding names: Martie Todd. But I wasn’t masculine at all, and I kinda loved that. I felt like I was being rebellious — in some small, insignificant way in the mind of a child ;-)
