Question. And this may seem really dumb, because I’m learning how to do “marketing” on my own, with no knowledge or expertise. Aside from owning a publication, how do you obtain an email list? Here’s the situation: I have a publication that’s mostly committed to other writers (specifically, voices from the trans community). I will publish some of my advocacy writing there occasionally. But I’ve only just started that publication, and building the following is slow. However, for my personal writer account, I’ve busted a$s to gain a following of 1.5k so far. Without having to start a whole new publication dedicated to just my work, how can I create an email list? (I’ve seen other Medium writers who have links to external sites where readers can subscribe and they get email lists that way, but I’m not tech savvy and have no idea how to even create one of those “subscribe” buttons.) Any advice appreciated!

P.S. I do have my own website, but it’s outdated, not use-friendly/takes me a week to figure out how to do anything besides post, and I don’t have the time to rebuild that site now.
