Here’s the thing: you can say that!

If that was how I chose to describe myself (white, straight/heterosexual female), I would do so. Just like you can define yourself however you want to.

This piece wasn’t saying you must henceforth and forever disclose your gender identity and certify your genitalia status while on any and all dates!

This piece wasn’t about telling people what they “have to” do or not do; it was merely examining the motivations behind why people get so angered over this one word — a word most of them don’t use anyway.

However, others might take issue with your use of the word “normal” to describe yourself as a man. ‘Normal’ is all relative.
